Jaya Bachchan (born Jaya Bhaduri April 9, 1948 in Jabalpur/Kolkata), is a Bollywood actress. She is an alumna of the Film and Television Institute of India. Jaya is married to actor Amitabh Bachchan. Jaya was born to Taroon Kumar Bhaduri, writer, journalist and stage artist, and Indira Bhaduri. She studied in St. Joseph's Convent School, Bhopal. She started her career with a small role in Satyajit Ray's Mahanagar at the age of 15. After initial success in her native West Bengal, she moved to Mumbai and starred in many Hindi films. Her son Abhishek was born while Jaya and Amitabh were working on the film Sholay. Following this she retired from films for a few years and focused on raising her children. However, she returned in 1981 with Silsila and once more, after a gap of eight years, in Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa. Currently, Bachchan rarely acts in movies, although she occasionally performs in stage-shows. Of late, Bachchan became active in politics, notably with the Samajwadi party and is a Member of Parliament, representing Rajya Sabha. On June 3, 1973, she married Amitabh Bachchan. She has two children with him: Shweta Bachchan-Nanda and Abhishek Bachchan, who is also an actor. She has lived her entire married life in the public eye, yet she has always kept her distance from the media (especially when it comes to her personal life). She has received various Filmfare Awards for her roles in Kal Ho Naa Ho, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Fiza, Nauker and Abhimaan. She also received a special Life Time Achievement award in 1998 for her contributions to Indian cinema. She is a recipient of the Padma Shri.

Shatrughan Sinha (born December 9, 1947) is an Indian actor, born in Patna. Even though he is from Bihar, a place not known for film personalities, he struggled hard and established himself as a prominent member of the Indian film industry. He is an alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India and was one of the top male Bollywood film stars in the 1970s and 1980s. He started out playing villainous roles — and was immensely successful in portraying stylised villains. He then switched over to playing roles as the protagonist/main lead and was even more successful in solo starrers as well as multi-starrers. In the mid-1980s he felt that he should do something more for his country. Inspired by the great politician from Bihar Mr. Jay Prakash Narayan, he decided to enter politics. He was the first and only actor who entered politics by joining the opposition party. Mr Sinha is the most successful actor politician in India, having made history by being the first member of the film fraternity to become a cabinet minister. He has held two portfolios, the department of health, and the department of shipping. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and campaigns for the party all over India and is well known as a leader of the masses and a brilliant orator.

Sunil Dutt (June 6, 1929 - May 25, 2005), born Balraj Dutt was an Indian Bollywood actor and politician. He was the Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports in the Manmohan Singh government (2004-2005). He was a recipient of the Padma Shri. His son, Sanjay Dutt, is currently also a Bollywood star.

In 1984 he joined the Congress (I) party and was elected to Parliament for five terms from the constituency of Mumbai North West.

Starting out in radio, Sunil Dutt was a hugely popular announcer on the Hindi Service of Radio Ceylon, the oldest radio station in South Asia. He moved to acting in Hindi films. He acted in several successful films from 1956.

He was born in the village of Khurd (now in Pakistan Punjab). His family moved to India during the Partition of India (1947). In Mumbai, he joined Jai Hind College as an undergraduate and took up a job. A stroke of luck fetched him an additional assignment with an advertisement company and he could supplement his income by a few hundred more rupees. While working for it, he got introduced to the cream of film industry including Nargis, whom he married on March 11, 1958. He had 1 son and 2 daughters. He introduced his son Sanjay in Rocky in 1981. In that same year, his wife died of pancreatic cancer. He set up Nargis Dutt foundation in memory of his wife for the cure of cancer patients. He was also a sponsor of the India Project, a Nobel Peace Prize-nominated organization akin to Operation Smile for the treatment of Indian children with facial deformities.

In 1982 he was appointed as the Sheriff of Mumbai, an apolitical titular position, a position bestowed on him by the Maharashtra government for the period of a year.

His political career was halted for some years in the early 1990s when he worked to free his son from jail after he was arrested following Hindu-Muslim clashes in Mumbai.

He died of a heart attack [1] at his residence in Bandra, Mumbai in his sleep. His seat in Parliament will be contested by his daughter, Priya Dutt.
