Isha Koppikar

Name: Isha Koppikar
Birthday: Sunday, September 19, 1976
Star Sign : Libra
First Film : Kaadhal Kavidai

BIOGRAPHY

Isha Koppikar was born in Mumbai, India in 1976. She went to Ruia College in Mumbai and studied Life Sciences. While in college, she did a model shoot for Gautam Rajyadhaksa. She took part in the 1995 Miss India Contest, won the Miss Talent Crown and modeled for L'Oreal, Rexona, Camay, Tips & Toes and Coca-Cola, among others.

Her first movie was the Tamil En Swasa Katre opposite Arvind Swamy, one of the most successful actors that time. She received positive reviews for her role and decided to pursue a career in Bollywood: Her first movie was Ek Tha Dil Ek Thi Dhadkan (1997), directed by Shah Rukh Sultan, and has yet to be released.

Koppikar starred in some minor roles in Fiza (2000) and Pyaar Ishq aur Mohabbat (2001) until in 2002, she starred in Ram Gopal Varmas Company as an Item girl in the song Khallas!, which created her nickname Khallas-girl and caused her breakthrough.

In Dil Ka Rishta she played opposite Aishwarya Rai and Arjun Rampal and for her negative role in Qayamat: City Under Threat (2003), she received a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Villain. In the movie Girlfriend (2004), she plays a woman involved in a lesbian relationship and in D (2004), she again worked with Ram Gopal Varma in the prequel of his movie Company.

Recently, she played Arshad Warsi's girlfriend in the Salman Khan starrer Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya?. She is now filming for Farhan Akhtar's Don alongside Shahrukh Khan.
If looks could kill, this Mumbai girl who started out as a model would be lethal. Tall, beautiful, talented, the Khallas girl, Isha Koppikar shot to fame with her song number in Ram Gopal Verma's movie Company. Born in 1976, Isha had never imagined that she would become an actress. Instead, she had hoped to walk in her father's footsteps and become a doctor. “I did not get enough marks to enroll for MBBS,” says Isha, who graduated in life sciences from Ruia College.

Modeling assignments trickled in after she did a photo shoot with Gautam Rajyadhyaksha when she was still in junior college. Besides some prominent assignments for Ponds, Camay, Rexona, Synergy, Coke, L'Oreal and Tips & Toes, she did a few ramp shows. “I did only five or six ramp shows,” she says, “as I used to be plump in those days.” Such candid admissions make her the person she is.

In 1995 she won the Miss Talent crown at the Miss India. She debuted in a Tamil film, En Swasa Katre opposite Arvind Swamy, who was at the peak of his fame at that time following the success of Roja and Bombay. The film got rave reviews and she was expected to be a big hit in the south.

However, she softly entered Bollywood. Her first film, Ek Tha Dil Ek Thi Dhadkan, directed by Shah Rukh Khan in 1997, never got released. Then she was back to south to do her second film with Tamil superstar Prashant. She managed to do about ten films in the south. Her performance in Tamil film 'Kaathal Kavithai' fetched her the Filmfare award for the best newcomer in the south in 2000-01.

Though her work was in the South, her heart was set on making a name for herself in Mumbai. She did small roles in Fiza, Aamdani Athani Kharcha Rupaiya and Pyar, Ishq aur Mohabbat. But she got the much wanted and needed break from Ram Gopal Verma. Her item song ‘Khallas’ in Company became all the rage.

Some of the other movies she worked in were Sanjay Gupta's multi starrer Kaante, Plan with Dino Morea and Krishna Cottage in which she played a ghost. She was nominated as a villain for film Qayamat. In Pinjar her performance was good but anyhow the film didn't work. She was recently in news for her controversial film Girlfriend where she played an obsessive lover to her friend Amrita Arora and did some bold scenes portraying a lesbian relationship.

Today Ishaa Khoppikar has grown beyond being just a sizzling item girl. Ishaa is now setting to sink her teeth into some really challenging roles in her forthcoming films Inteqaam, Humraahi and Raakh.

Isha loves to make friends, is Net-savvy and does a lot of chatting. “I love dancing but no discos and pubs. I am not a night person. I start my day early,” says Isha, who paints and makes candles in her free time. She is not much of a bibliophile, but is at home with self-help books.

If there is something else this Konkani girl loves doing, it is gorging on her mother's cooking. She is a food freak who hankers after butter chicken, biryani, seafood and Chinese! “I can't cook, I just do the eating.” Her parents had always been supportive of her decisions. “My family is my biggest asset and my sensitivity is my strength,” she maintains.

Jackie Shroff

Name: Jackie Shroff
Birthday: Saturday, February 01, 1958
Star Sign : Capricorn
Address: Le-Papeyon, Mount Mary Rd., Bandra (W), Mumbai 400 050
First Film : Swami Dada

BIOGRAPHY

He's considered one of Bollywood's most affable stars. So much so, Jackie Shroff is open to fielding questions about everything under the sun including his take on the opposite sex, his own sexuality, his family life, his financial difficulties and then perhaps, his film career! This has been the story of his life, ever since Jackie graduated from being a small-time 'dada' at Teenbatti (in South Bombay) to a popular model, till finally, Dev Anand picked him up for a minor part in Swami Dada (1982).

Following which, Subhash Ghai picked him up for the part of an unkempt goon-turned-virtuous Hero (1983). This romantic musical co-starring Meenakshi Seshadri sent the cash registers ringing and promptly turned Jackie into the hottest newcomer on the block. Finally, it was Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Parinda that changed Jackie's 'wooden' image and even fetched him a 'Best Actor' Filmfare award! But Jackie displayed very little prudence in his selection of films and picked up just about anything that came his way (unlike Anil, who was always choosy). As a result, he registered more flops than hits many of them being B-grade projects.

In the meantime, the star had formed his own company, Jackie Shroff Entertainment Limited (JSEL) and produced a film called 'Grahan', which was directed by his friend, Shashilal Nair. This was three years ago. But 'Grahan' is still waiting in the cans for a theatre release. Jackie has kept himself busy doing everything from signing several Mithun Chakraborty quickies to anchoring a television show called 'Missing'.

It is also heard that he's is now prepared to go back to doing what he started off with playing the villain. Given his easygoing disposition and 'nice guy' image, wonder how he's going to fit the bill. But who knows, he might just pull this gamble off too like he's done several times in the past.

He was willing to learn from lesser known but talented musicians throughout his college days. Jaswinder Singh Bains(Jazzy B)

Name: Jaswinder Singh Bains(Jazzy B)
Birthday: Tuesday, April 01, 1975

BIOGRAPHY

Jaswinder Singh Bains (born April 1, 1975), better known by his stage name Jazzy B, is an Indian Bhangra artist.

Jazzy B is easily recognized by fans of Bhangra with his spiky hair and the range and depth of his vocals. However, his ability to be easily recognized has gotten Jaswinder Bains in trouble. More recently an incident occurred at Bear Creek Park in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada where he was involved in a brawl with two males of East Indian descent regarding the credit of lyrics on his smash hit popular song, "Soorma." 'Ghugian Da Jorra', his successful debut album, was released in 1993 and instantly made him a star. Since then he has become the best-selling Bhangra artist in the world, helping bring the genre to the forefront of the Indian music scene. He has worldwide appeal as he often tours Canada, England, India, the United States, and many other parts of the world where there is a large Desi population.

Music

Jazzy B has released thirteen albums all of which have been produced by Sukshinder Shinda, a talented Bhangra record producer and artist known as 'The Music Man'. Together they have created some of the most popular Bhangra hits, including "Ghugian Da Jorra", "Londono Patola" which is still considered a hit since It put the Canada in the bhangra scene, "Naag", "Tera Roop", "Sardara", "Dil Luteya", and "Soorma".

The 2005 Balle - Romeo Tour, which promoted Jazzy B's album Romeo and Sukshinder Shinda's album Balle, played at various venues around the world including Paramount Canada's Wonderland near Toronto, Canada which attracted a record crowd of over 65,000.

Jazzy B's popularity and success in Bhangra can be attributed to his style which is quite different from other artists in the genre. The music videos for his singles "Soorma" and "Romeo" were based on Hip hop music videos and featured Hummer H2s and the Rap group Takeova Ent.

Jazzy B has also said that the reason for his longevity as a successful Bhangra artist is that he works exclusively with Sukshinder Shinda as he does not want to flood the Bhangra market with songs on different producers' albums.

He has been compared Bhangra artist Kuldip Manak, whom he considers a role model.

Jazzy B made his acting debut in 2000 with a cameo appearance in the Bollywood film Shaheed Udham Singh[1] which starred fellow Punjabi singer and actor Gurdas Maan as the Indian freedom fighter Bhagat Singh. Their music was also featured on the film's album.

In 2006, Jazzy B made another cameo when he was featured in the movie Teesri Aankh[2] performing the Indi-pop song "Chuk De Punjabi". He has expressed an interest in acting and has stated that he would consider bigger roles in the future.

Star Sign : Leo
Family: Shomu Mukherjee,Mother - Tanuja
Address: C Block, 1st Floor, Gandhi Gram Road, Juhu, Mumbai 400 049, (India)

Her mother Tanuja was an acclaimed actress; Her father is Shomu Mukherjee; her cousins Rani Mukerji, Sharbani Mukherjee and Mohnish Behl are also part of the industry. Her aunt Nutan, grandmother Shobhna Samarth and great grandmother Rattan Bai have all been influential figures in the Bollywood film industry. Her younger sister Tanisha recently started a film career. Kajol is married to actor Ajay Devgan. Her uncles are Joy Mukherjee and Deb Mukherjee. (see Mukherjee-Samarth family (film))

Kajol has appeared in a great many movies. Not all of them have been hits; however, she has appeared in some of Bollywood's biggest hits, most notably the films in which she co-stars with Shah Rukh Khan: (Baazigar, Karan Arjun, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham).

She became the first woman to win the Filmfare Best Villain Award, for her performance in Gupt: The Hidden Truth (1997).

She retired briefly from film-making after the birth of her daughter Nysa. However, she has recently signed a film with director Kunal Kohli. The film is to be called Fanaah (Destruction) and she will co-star with Aamir Khan.

She has also appeared on the famous TV show Kaun Banega Crorepati (the Indian version of Who wants to be a millionaire?) hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. She was paired with her husband Ajay Devgan. They won ten million rupees and donated them to a cancer hospital in Chennai.

Kajol married actor Ajay Devgan on February 24, 1999. She is the proud mother of a baby girl, Nysa, who was born in April 2003.

Kajol pours out film after with spontaneous ease of an accomplished actress. Though severely lacking in looks and beauty than most other successful heroines, she is among the highest paid, in industry. It is her style, class and piquancy that sets apart Kajol, from the rest of her contemporaries.

Granddaughter of Shobhna Samarth, Kajol was born on August 5, 1975 to the producer-actress duo of Shomu and Tanuja Mukherjee. Tanisha is her sibling in a family, which has great influence in the film world. Famous star of yesteryears, Nutan is her aunt and Rani Mukherjee her cousin. Her childhood was laden with happiness and material prosperity. She got married to Ajay Devgun in 1999 and the couple have a daughter too.

Kajol had taken up film making more out of passion than as a natural career choice. Kajol never had to compromise on the quality of films that she takes up due to her strong financial background. She had made her debut in Director Paraish Rawaail’s Kamaal Saadana, as her co-star in Bekhudi. Though Bekhudi failed miserably but Kajol’s draw kept on rising. The eventful journey from Bekhudi to Dil Kya kare, shows the power of her versatility and as a matter of course she has won much more acceptance than her mother. Abbas Mastan’s Baazigaar, with a lot of help from co-star Shahrukh put her into final reckoning. Kajol became a sought after icon.

Yeh Dillagi, with Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan established her credentials as an actress. Her performance made people sit up and notice the spontaneity and confidence she oozed. She displayed the same intuitive flair for acting, notably in Udhar ki Zindagi and Rakesh Roshan's commercial blockbuster Karan Arjun. She's been doing varied roles like that of murdering people Gupt, getting reincarnated Hamesha and almost turning into a nun Sapnay after singing the hummable Aawaran bhawnre. Her Dilwale Dulahaniya Le Jayenge, with Shah Rukh Khan set her in league with the legendry film stars of Bolly wood. She won the best actress award from Filmfare for her performance in the film. She signed a string of ventures thereafter. Though the film is more than eight years old, it continues to make waves in the popular cinema.

Another great performance came from Kajol in Dushman with Sanjay Dutt where she had a double role, she again walked away with awards for this film. Her performances in all these films gave the regular cine goers the new uncrowned number one actress of the present era.

Kajol had more surprises in store, her acting abilities came to the forefront with Pyar To Hona Hi Tha with Ajay Devgan, this film opened a new chapter in her career. Her potentials as an actress were further exploited by Karan Johar in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai with Shahrukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee, Kajol gave her best performances and walked away with the Filmfare Award for the Best Actress

It happened in September 2005, when Kangana was drinking coffee with one of her friends at a café in Mumbai. Filmmaker Anurag Basu , who had already directed a successful film, Murder , was keeping an open eye for the heroine of his next movie Gangster .

It was there Basu spotted Kangana and called her for the audition. Despite the fact that Kangana is not from a filmi background and has no real acting experience, Basu decided to cast her in his film. The rest, as they say, is history.

Khalid

Name: Khalid
First Film : Mere Huzoor

BIOGRAPHY

He started his modelling career at 24, when it's time for most models to retire, or at least start looking for an alternative career. His Bollywood break happened with the movie, Joggers' Park, at 28. Wasn't Khaled Siddiqui a late entrant? "I strongly feel that kismat se jyada aur waqt se pehle kuch nahi hota," answers Khaled sounding confident. The confidence stems from the fact that though not from a film background his first commercial for Cadbury Perk was with none other than Priety Zinta. After which he shot for brands like ICICI, Bombay Dyeing, Maruti Alto, Ariel, Ponds and Gillette wherein Khaled worked alongside faces like Bipasha Basu, Mahima Chaudhary and Lara Dutta.

A recognisable face on TV, with his second film, The Film, opposite Mahima Chaudhary, Khaled hopes to make his mark as an actor. "The film is about seven guys who dream about making a movie. It deals with their aspirations and the trials and tribulations they undergo to realise those dreams," informs Khaled.

Struggling hard to get noticed? Sounds very much like Khaled's real story. Does he relate to the character? "I play an assistant director in the film who hails from a small town background and had to suffer a lot. In real life, my career has been without any hiccups. It has been an easy and smooth journey so far," says Khaled. But that does not mean he didn't have to prepare himself for the role at all. "Nothing is easy," he is quick to add.
Working with Mahima was fun, he says, adding that he thoroughly enjoyed the shooting stint. "I knew her from our modelling days and discovered that not much had changed with her. In fact, we have matured and knew better how to interact with others this time," says the actor who counts Ram Gopal Varma, Subhash Ghai and Shyam Benegal amongst his all time favourite directors.

But is there a dream role for him? "No, I'd like to experiment and play all kinds of roles. I don't want to limit myself as an actor." Khaled is hopeful that the audience will wake up to his acting potential after the release of The Film. "We saw the monoprint with the songs and visuals. It has really shaped up well. We have done our best and hope you like it."

Next for him is Prakash Jha's Apaharan and Ho Sakta Hai with Victor Banerjee. He's hopeful to get more offers.

Kishore kumar*

Name: Kishore kumar*
Birthday: Sunday, August 04, 1929
Star Sign : Leo
Family: Abhas Ganguly
First Film : Shikari

BIOGRAPHY

Versatile singer and a man of different moods, Kishore Kumar has became a legend of Hindi film world with his eccentric, romantic,
the depth, emotion and mettle
in his voice that gave us so many songs that are beyond par excellence. In 1949, he came to Bombay from his native place in Khandwa (M.P),
hoping that his elder
brother and film star Ashok Kumar would introduce him to his idol - singer K L Saigal. He too wanted to be a singer, but the film industry
conned him into becoming an actor.

Though Kishore Kumar hated being ordered around by directors, (who according to him didn't know their jobs most of the time) the hits followed.
New Delhi (1956), Asha
(1957), Chalti Ka Naam Gadi (1958), Jhumroo (1961), Half Ticket (1962), Shreeman Funtoosh (1956) and Padosan (1968). All time blockbusters,
that managed to tie down
Kishore to a busy acting schedule, so much so, that for a song in Sharaarat, Mohd Rafi, actually had to provide playback for him.

In an industry, where comedy was seen as a filler or diversion from the main plot, there emerged in the form of Kishore,
a hero who made comic acting an evolved art.
Laughing, singing and dancing, Kishore was the complete comic hero, comparable to the likes of Bob Hope and Danny Kaye. And his
unconventional looks
and personality only added to the fun that audiences had when watching him. Even while playing second fiddle to the hero, Kishore
added an extra zing to the film.
Whether it was the pan chewing ustad of Padosan, who takes on the carnatic maestro Mahmood in a musical duel or in his usually funny
song and dance routine in movies like Miss Mary.

As a singer, he was unparalleled: his songs coming as naturally as laughter. His ability to yodel perfectly, freak off into nonsense
rhyme and still return to the original tune
was exhilarating. For those used to straightforward singing, this was heady wine. And Sachin Deb Burman, that talented music director,
made him a constant playback for Dev
Anand. Who does not hum those tunes even today? From Paying Guest (Mana janab ne pukara nahin) to Nau Do Gyarah (Hum hain raahi pyar ke)
to Funtoosh (Ai meri topi palat ke aa),
he weaved his spell. And in the films in which he starred, from Bandi, Bhai Bhai, Looko Chhori (Bengali), Shararat, New Delhi,
he yodelled his way through; Eena meena deeka, Mera naam
Abdul Rahman, CAT Cat, Hum to muhabbat karega and the list is too long to recollect. He is, of course, best remembered for his own
production Chalti ka Naam Gadi, where he starred with
his brothers Ashok Kumar and Anoop Kumar and his wife then, the fabulous Madhubala.

Kishore produced, directed, acted in and composed the music for Jhumroo, an enormous achievement.
He then made an uncharacteristically serious film on the relationship between a father
and his dumb son - 'Door Gagan ki Chhaon mein'. This 1964 film that Kishore directed, produced,
scripted and scored music for was a sensitive offbeat drama about a war hero Shankar (Kishore Kumar)
who returns home from battle to find that his family has perished in a fatal fire. Only his young son (played by his real life son - Amit)
has survived. The film proceeds to sensitively
delineate the father's efforts to draw his shell-shocked son out of his self-imposed exile. This film was a classic in the genre of war movies,
and preceded a spate of Vietnam
war inspired films of Hollywood. Critics and fans were astounded by the film which had the unstoppable funster in a serious introspective,
brilliantly sensitive portrayal. 'Door
Gagan Ki Chhaon Mein' went on to win many national and international awards. Its critical success was perhaps what motivated the making of
'Door Ka Rahi', another Kishore
creation that throws up touches of stylistic tranquility of 'Door Gagan Ki Chhaon Mein'.
The heightened expectations of his fans, of Kishore as a director, were never ever
fulfilled by his other films - 'Badhti Ka Naam Daadhi' (1978) 'Zindagi' (1981) or 'Door Wadiyon Mein'
(1982) The last was another surprise from the singing, dancing vocal comic - a song-less film.

The songs, of course, were immortal, tuned by S D Burman. Baboo samjho ishare (with Manna Dey), Ek ladki bheegi bhagi si,
Paanch rupaiya barah anna, Jaate the Japan
pahoonch gaye Cheen (again with Manna Dey) and Haal kaisa hai janab ka (with Asha Bhonsle). This surely was the most enjoyable
freewheeling knockabout ever made in
India. In other films too, he clowned and sang: In I S Johar's Bewaqoof and of course that great comedy Padosan, with Sunil Dutt,
Mehmood and Saira Bano are some of the
all time great comedies in which Kishore acted.

There are any number of Kishore Kumar tales to be heard in Mumbai. The best is how when he was shooting for a Satyen Bose film in Mahableshwar,
he was supposed to
come out of a bungalow, get into a car and go past the gate. After a couple of retakes, Kishore got into the car
and drove past straight to Bombay while the entire unit waited
for him to return. Night fell, but there was no sign of the man. To make matters worse, the car belonged to the producer.

People say he was a miser, screamed that the taxmen took away all his earnings. But very few people know that Kishore Kumar
secretly sent money regularly, month after
month, to the widow of Arun Kumar Mukherjee. In fact, the truth is, she depended entirely on the money Kishore sent her.
She herself confessed this to a friend. If Kishore
had not helped, it is likely that the family would probably have been wiped out. Incidentally, Arun Kumar Mukherjee is
the same person who used to visit the Gangulys at
Khandwa and who was one of the first persons to appreciate Kishore Kumar's singing talent. Kishore Kumar sent money to a few other people as well.
Nobody knows who
they are and he himself kept the matter under wraps. He charged one rupee less than Lata Mangeshkar to show his respect for her and her seniority.
And he talked of going
back to Khandwa to become a farmer.

There is a story of Kishore Kumar that reveals another side to him. Bipin Gupta, known for
his many character roles in the Hindi movies produced the film Dal Mein Kala that was
released in 1964. Satyen Bose was its director. The film starred Nimii and Kishore Kumar.
Bipin Gupta was short of money and was compelled to cancel the shooting. Kishore Kumar,
seeing the plight Gupta was in, ordered his driver Abdul to go home and bring Rs 20,000 in cash immediately.
That was the amount Gupta needed. As soon as the money arrived, Kishore Kumar
gave it to him personally. The film incidentally flopped, practically ruining Bipin Gupta.

He had angered former Prime Minister of India, Mrs. Indira Gandhi, when he refused to sing for the
"Emergency Propoganda" during the emergency declared by her, and as a result all songs sung
by him were banned by the national media at that time.

He shunned people, never smoke or drank and had only few friends. Kishore married some of the most beautiful
women in India. Ruma Guha-Thakurta (the mother of his singer son Amit Kumar) was
his first wife, then the beautiful Madhubala, Yogita Bali and finally Leena Chandavarkar (mother of his yongest son Summet.

Kishore Kumar was unstinting in crediting his popularity to the Burmans - father and son.
It was S.D. Burman who made Kishore, the superstar singer of the seventies, when he chose him to sing
'Roop tera mastana, pyar mera diwana' for Rajesh Khanna in the superhit Aradhana. This together with the song
that set the trend of wooing, 'Mere sapnon ki rani, kab ayegi tu' made Kishore the
voice of the 'Chinky eyed sensation,' 'the chocolate faced hero' Rajesh Khanna. S.D. Burman did more than just make
Kishore a superstar singer. He helped him out when his marriage to Ruma
Devi caused a split in the family, by making him sing. 'Qusoor apka' in Bahaar and the song went to become a hit.

S.D. Burman made him the voice of Dev Anand much before Rajesh Khanna came on the scene. In Guide, Jewel Thief,
Paying Guest and Munimji under S.D. Burman's expert hands,
Kishore's talent was honed and fine tuned. 'Maana janab ne pukar nahin' and 'Gaata rahe mera dil' were some evergreen
hits that Kishore sang for debonair Dev.

Another composer who placed implacable faith in Kishore was S.D. Burman's son, Rahul Dev Burman. The lack of basic training
in music, never hampered Kishore's intuitive feel and
enormous talent for music. After the decline of Rajesh Khanna, R.D. Burman and other composers were able to successfully
exploit Kishore Kumar's voice for the superstar of all time
Amitabh Bachchan. For Don, Sharabi, Mili, Amar Akbar Anthony, the list is endless. Kishore Kumar's ability to modulate his
voice to suit the personality of his hero, and the ethos of the
situation, was what made him a star. He was as much the voice of the dapper Dev, the adorable Rajesh as well as the aggressive
angry young man Amitabh Bachchan.

Quite a few, who have known Kishore Kumar, put forward the view that he was not really eccentric but a very serious person at heart,
very earnest about what he wanted to do.
Unfortunately, he was not always understood. As Mehmood characterizes it: "He was neither eccentric not miserly, as some people seem
to think. He was in fact a genius.
He was a louder version of Raj Kapoor, an all-rounder who could handle every aspect of cinema but and all-rounder who enjoyed making
noise and being notices..."
Kalyanji, who takes a dispassionate view, says, "He had his moods, but that is an artiste's privilege. He had to be treated like a child
if you wanted to get him to do
anything...To get him to do what you wanted you had to tell him exactly the opposite." Anandji's version is more matter-of-fact. He says:
"Kishore Kumar wasn't the
least eccentric. It's just that he didn't like people cheating him of his dues."

Kishore Kumar's ardent desire in his last days was to return to his native Khandwa,

With just three films, Konkona Sen is being looked as the most promising new actress in Kolkata. Konkona Sen, who won the National award for 'Mr and Mrs Iyer', now replaces Rani Mukherjee in the new film that is going to be based on Jhumpa Lahiris book. Initially, Rani Mukherjee was considered for the role because Meera Nair was very much impressed with her performance as the battered wife in 'Yuva'. It now looks as if Meera Nair is more impressed by Konkona Sen. Rani was unable to act in the film because she wasn't able to set aside call sheets for the film. Rani is caught up with another problem these days- gossips about a 'relationship' with sitting MP and actor Govinda. There are talks that the two are living together these days. Rani Mukherjee has strongly denied these rumors. Uncertainty and gossips - two permanent features of the film industry.
