BIOGRAPHY

Maqsood Mehmood Ali (born September 19, 1958), popularly known as Lucky Ali, is an Indian singer and celebrity. He has also acted in Bollywood movies. Lucky is best known for his soulful but strikingly simple ballad-style singing.

Lucky made his debut on the Indian pop scene with his soulful album Sunoh which was made him very popular. This album won many top awards including the Best Pop Male Vocalist 1996 Screen Awards, the Channel V Viewers Choice Award (1997). It stayed on the MTV Asia Charts for 60 weeks. His next album Sifar wasn't a best-seller, but indeed it was a class apart.

With Hrithik Roshan's debut movie Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, Lucky entered into the world of playback singing. The songs Na tum jaano na hum and Ek pal ka jeena became huge hits and he won the Filmfare award (best male playback singer) for Ek pal ka jeena.

Lucky Ali is the second of the eight children of popular Bollywood comedian of yesteryears, Mehmood. His mother Madhuri, was a Bengali and the sister of a popular Indian actress of the 1960s - Meena Kumari. His first wife is Masooma, who accepted Islam after marrying Lucky Ali,who also acted in the video O Sanam in his first album Sunoh. He has two children from her first wife- Tasmia and Ta'awwuz. Lucky is married to a second wife, Inaya. She was Anaida(Parsi) before marrying Lucky. She also accepted Islam after marriage. Lucky ali's third child is a girl named Sara from his second wife. Lucky Ali's children are students at the elite Mallya Aditi International School in Bangalore.

Lucky and his father Mehmood didn't go along very well. Mehmood was a very busy actor in 1960s and remained away from home for his shoots. Once, when Lucky's mother came with him to receive Mehmood on the airport, Lucky didn't recognize his father and on seeing him said, "He's the film comedian Mehmood !" Lucky has tried marijuana and his drug abuse problem led Mehmood to write the script of the movie Dushman Duniya Ka (Enemy of the World). The movie stars Ali's youngest brother, 21 year old Manzoor. It is the story of the drug abuse of a young man called Lucky. In the end the young man kills his mother, destroys everything around him and finally kills himself. Lucky Ali was furious with his father's vision and refused to act in the movie. "I felt the story lacked hope," he said. However he sang his first song for a movie for the film.

Lucky's wanderlust has taken him places. Lucky used to breed race horses, and also ran carpet-cleaning business with his friend Aslam (who penned the lyrics for his first album Sunoh). He then worked in an oil rig in Pondicherry. He is settled in Auckland, New Zealand.

I really like lucky's all soundtracks especially Sifar. I like it since when I was in 12th. There's no reason why do i like him. Like all Indians I also have no answer. It's all depend what type of person you are. Introvert nature of lyric may attract the listeners, and definitely lucky's personality so affective to express what does he have the feeling to the world. Everyone got be alone once in their life. And who don't want to be know himself. It's an ultimate choice of every youngster's. I like that everyone should choose it, listen it and love it.
